I was having a nice little discussion with an online friend of mine (who happens to be athiest) about cars the other day. Somehow it turned to religion, which got me thinking.
I hate discussing religion especially with athiests and zealouts. It's not that I have anything against them personally, it's just that the discussion can't and won't go anywhere. Here I am trying to explain to someone that there is a God yet they ask for proof when proof is all around them. Then the flood story came up (Noah's ark and all).
Me : "Noah's Ark" can be found in all those religions (Islam, Judaism, and Christianity) for a reason.
Him : Yeah, and that reason is, Noah's a myth. Just like Santa Claus, and people STILL talk about Santa Claus to this very day even though he is not real.
Me : Fine. Myths stem from legends which in turn stems from reality. Santa Claus originally known as Saint Nicholas, "The Giving Saint" was born in the city of Patara (Mediterranean Turkey), and traveled to Palestine and Egypt when he was young.
"St Nicholas reportedly died about 350 AD. His gift-giving role in Christmas rites probably follows from his fame as the friend of children, and that he used to give anonymous donations of gold coins to persons in need." The same with Noah. He was real. His story turned to legend which in turn turned to myth. Also with Noah, all the major religions mention him in their holy textures.
Him : Whatever. Blah Blah Blah "C"
Me : Blah Blah Blah "A"
Him : Blah Blah Blah "C"!
Me : Yes, but Blah Blah Blah "A"!!!!
That was just part of the conversation and we didn't literally say the last A to C part but that's what it sounded like. I kept on saying "A" and he kept on saying "C". There was no getting to point "B" which is the way it usually goes with all religious discussions. It's not that I wanted to convert him or anything. In fact if I'd rather we just not have religious discussions all-together. It really is a touchy subject and I just wish we could avoid it.
Then there's the super-religious people that take it the next step. Good God! I have a friend who will not pluck or tweeze her eyebrows because it's 7aram. Ok fine, dont! But leave me out of it. She's always getting on my case for one thing or another. She's actually a pretty fun girl and I like her alot but I just wish she'd back off, y'know?
Sometimes when we're out, I'd accidentally let it slip that a guy in the car next to us is cute or something along those lines and OH MY GOD you guys should see her freak out! 7aram why are you even looking, blah blah blah. Then there's my clothes, it's not even 7affar or semi-7affar (japanese-7affar haha whatever) but she still goes on and on about how my clothes should be longer or baggier. I swear listening to her you'd think I was going out naked or something when in fact I'm actually wearing really baggy jeans (cuz I'm so cool haha) and a short-sleeved polo shirt especially for her so she'd back off my case.
Then there's music, every other week she swears off listening to music 'cuz it's 7aram, and wouldn't you know it. Once Britney's latest single comes out, my friend would be all "oh baby baby sometimes your so toxic but I'm not a girl" or whatever Britney's singing. I'm like "Oh my God! You hypocrite! Then she'd just grin sheepishly and start making more promises about how she's going to quit listening to music next week for sure. Oh and she's been wearing her 7ijab ever since middle-school.
I just think if you are religious, fine but don't shove your religion or views down other people's throat!!!! Mo '3a9ib! That's why I HATE discussing religion with anyone. All it succeeds in doing is giving me a headache and an aftertaste of annoyance.
Okay, so it turns out that I got that little rumour 'bout the Emir all wrong (oops) but check out Mishu's Blog (Kuwait Spearos) for the correct info, and there's even an article.

Rumors and Dreams
Kuwait's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al Abdulla Al Sabah has supposedly handed over his coveted position, as Prime Minister to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad. It's not official though, so don't go quoting me yet :P
In more important news haha I went out shopping yesterday with my cousin. Sadly, due to her inhuman height (mashalla) I had to wear my highest heels which was fun at first but a few hours later the pain kicked (pun he3he3) in. We saw "Garfield" at Sooq Sharq's Cinema, and to my surprise (because this was supposed to be a kids' movie), not once single child was there. A cute couple (miwa3deen he3he3) and a guy who came alone (I wanted to invite him to come sit with us cuz he was all alone, maskeen, but my mean inhumanely tall cousin said no) and ourselves were all that showed up. The movie sucked bigtime! The only slightly funny part where I think I might've cracked a smile was when *SPOILER* Odie (the dumb dog) started dancing to Black Eyed Peas' "Hey Mama" *SPOILER* Other than that, I was more interested in my caramel popcorn then watching the movie. By the way, does any know why the nachos that they used to sell at the movies are banned?
Anyways I found this black baby t-shirt that reads "A night at JAZZ CLUB" in fuzzy decals at Zara and had to have it cuz it was just so cute. I also got black bootleg trousers which are still in Zara for repairs cuz I'm too short *sob* and I got this super-sexy long flowy skirt, also black haha (notice a trend here?) and I got a black trenchcoat just because haha. I hate that Zara's dressing rooms have this huge gap inbetween the doors and the walls! Anyone could just snap a pic and bluetooth away. *shudder*
Only in Kuwait would a store like "Zara" known for it's cheap brand-name knock-offs would get famous, just like "Ikea" which outta' the Gulf is known for being "crap" :)
Anywhooo I treated myself to two newly arrived (or so the saleslady says) juicy tube pops "Candy", and "Lollipop" because I EARNED them. No, actually because on Lancome's website, it said that this new range of Lip glosses, Juicy Tube Pop are supposed to "cool" your lips, and I want to "cool" my lips. Ok, that's another lie (I'm on a roll here), the real reason is because I am a make-up addict. *hangs her head in shame* I wonder if there's rehab for that. That'd be so cool!
Meanwhile, back on earth, while minding my own bussiness and quietly sipping my coffee at *GASP* Starbucks I spot a guy on one of the tables that are outside typing away on his laptop. If it was bussiness or blogging I'd understand but he was on mIRC for God's sake! I craned my neck this way and that, to get a closer look but my cousin growled at me to behave so I did... behave. I'm sick of being bullied by adults :(
Back home, I was so tired cuz I'd been "imwaa9la" and naturally I needed to rest but I didn't wanna miss Jay Leno nor Conan O'Brien so I taped my eyelids open and watched. No, actually I could barely watch a little bit of Conan before going to bed 'cuz I was dead tired. Let me tell you guys something, sleeping on an empty stomache? Not fun. I woke up starving in the middle of the night. A bag of potatoe chips and an apple juice later, I went back to bed. Another piece of advice from me to you guys, don't eat right before going to bed 'cuz the dreams I had, were seriously messed up.
Something about sushi in Lib'a3, Lebanon with Catwoman or Halle Berry or whatever, then hanging out with wrestlers (WTF?) in an arabian style tent back in Brooklyne, New York. I woke up with a smile on my face and here I am blogging away. Weird dreams make me giggle... like a schoolgirl (which technically I still am since I never did finish highschool) okay take care people, laters

Stereotypes
I can't understand how people claim to be educated and open-minded yet are continually making ignorant remarks that fall back on stereotypes.
One specific stereotype that extremely annoys me is Kuwaity girls and make-up. I, have a passion for make-up (hey, to each their own, right?) yet just because I do enjoy slapping on some make-up before going out, does not mean it's okay to lump me in with those other girls who (as stereotype enforcers are so fond of saying) "shovel" it on. The worst part is, the people who usually lean back on this stereotype are the same ones who look like "Clowns" (another enforcer fave).
Yes I know I have a gorgeous face (thiqa haha) and sometime I'm fine with going out make-up free, but at other times I'm in the mood for make-up and LOTS of it. Now, when it comes to make-up, it all depends on how you apply it. Even if a girl puts on a little lipstick, a little kohl, and some blush. If it's all badly applied or the colors don't match the skintone or any other dilemma equally "major". The girl will look bad which causes others to say "She put on lots of make-up." Which in turn, is what earned Kuwaity girls their bad reputation with make-up, and gave birth to this hateful stereotype.
This is my usual make-up ritual. Mouisturizers, Foundation, Concealer, and that's just the "prepping" part. Then comes the Eyeshadows, Eyeliner, Mascara, and that's just for the eyes. After that it's Lipliner, Lipstick, Lipgloss. The final touch, is a bit of blush on both cheeks. It is a lot. The thing is, I've learned to apply it so well, and mix-and-match with the "right" colors, that people (strangers, WOMEN strangers) actually tell me it looks good when I'm out. I mean, I know it looks good, I don't need people to tell me that, but it's nice to hear it, just the same.
Anyways, even back in highschool when make-up wasn't allowed. I still managed to put some on if I wanted to and got away with it. It's all in the "way" you apply it. I could put on lots and lots of make-up but still come out with a "natural" and fresh, dewy look if that's what I wanted and people couldn't tell the difference. So please people stop saying kuwaity girls look like clowns even if some of them do, because that's generalizing, and it's an annoying stereotype as well.
Another annoying stereotype is the "Spoiled Kuwaitys" stereotype. It's true that most of Kuwait is wealthy. We can afford to have people to clean our houses, cook our food, and drive us around. We can afford to have not just a few cars. We can afford to have a beach house as well as the usual commodities that surround it such as jetboats, and jetskis among other things. It's true we can afford to have yearly summer vacations, and we can afford to be trend-whores. The thing is, if we can afford it, then why give us grief over it? Why should I be considered as spoiled if I can't cook? Why should I be considered spoiled if I can't even fold a shirt the "right way"? Why should I be considered spoiled if I choose to wear designer labels that aren't befitting my age? Why should I be considered spoiled if I go to the salon just to get my nails painted? We are not spoiled. This is our way of life. It is our reality. I wish this "Spoiled Kuwaitys" stereotype would just go away.
The "ry7a feeha" stereotype, is another stereotype that's just as annoying as the above two. If a girl isn't shy, quiet, and demure, then she must be ry7a feeha. Doesn't matter if she's just comfortable in her own skin. If a girl dresses differently then she must be ry7a feeha. Never mind that she's wearing basic-black baggy clothes. If it's different, then it's bad. If she looks too pretty then she's ry7a feeha, just because no way is she that pretty and still a virgin. If she's ugly then she must be ry7a feeha, because she knows she's ugly so she won't care if she's a virgin or not. Seriously it's ridiculous. I'm sad to say that even some of my closest friends label a girl as "ry7a feeha" if she's different, even though time and time again I've tried to break them of this habit, all to no avail.
Then there's the "Ignorance" stereotype. Everyone around the globe thinks of us Kuwaitys as ignorant. Some even think we still live in tents with camels, the whole deal. I know it's just as ignorant to generalize (the whole world) as it is to stereotype and I'm only contradicting myself but it's true! Once I was talking to an American guy online and when I told him I was from Kuwait he asked me how'd I "learn to speak english so well?" I chalked it up as ignorance and answered him, "The same way you did, in school." Then he asked me another dumb question,"Where do you plug your pc? Do you have electricity in Kuwait?" Naturally, he assumed we still live in tents, so I answered him, "I plug my pc up my camel's butt."
I'm sure there are many more but these are just off the top of my head and it's already 4:00am Also these are the mainly annoying ones. Anyways I watched "Resident Evil : Apocalypse" and can safely say, it's my new fave movie. True, it's all commercialized now with bigger explosions and more chicks but hey, at least they sorta' stuck to the games unlike most book-turned-movies. My Wednesday night? Not so good. We'll see what tomorrow brings haha

Patience is a Virtue....
So apparently good things do come to those who wait. They just have to wait long enough. It turns out all my posts and comments are visible.
Now on to more important things, "Fable" on the Xbox is sooo fun! I'd rather be playing "Star Ocean : Till the End of Time" on the psx2 but I promised myself that I'd get it after redecorating my room. I hate being disturbed while engrossed in an rpg, or a movie. That's why I like staying up 'till dawn and doing whatever, as opposed to waking up in the morning and being disturbed by everyone else in the househould. My room is currently a mess because ever since last October, I've decided to redecorate it, but never got around to it. My books and figurines are all packed in cardboard boxes. My clothes are all hanging on racks in an empty room next to mine. All my things are scattered around. The point is, if I do finally get around to redecorating my room and start "living" in it again, then it will be my own private asylum where no one can disturb me, which is not the case right now.
I saw "The Village" the other day and sorta' guessed the ending, halfway into the movie. Night Shyamalan's movies don't really offer all that they promise. Back when "Signs" came out, I was sooo excited after watching the trailers. Sadly, the movie was a dissapointment, and quite frankly, a bore. "Unbreakable" was even worse."The Sixth Sense" on the otherhand, was pretty cool and I have nothing negative to say about it. Each of these movies has a wonderful idea behind it and forces you to compare certain aspects of the movie with your life. In the "Sixth Sense" it was ghosts and family. In "Unbreakable", it was comic books and mortality. In "Signs" it was aliens and faith. In "The Village" it's fear, and the ways we cope with it. Back to what I was saying, the concepts of these movies are quite clever but the way that M. Night Shyamalan has portrayed them is ... well ... boring.
I'm currently reading "Blood and Gold" by Anne Rice. I love her!!!! You people remember 1994's "Interview with the Vampire" ? The one with the all star cast pre-fame. Brad Pitt (gorgeous), Tom Cruise, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, and Christian Slater. Anne Rice wrote the screenplay and the book that the movie was based off of. Then came 2002's "Queen of the Damned" which had Aaliyah (allah yir7amha) and Stuart Townsend (hawwwt), in the lead roles. The movie was also based on Anne Rice's novel. So if it wasn't already obvious, I'll let you all know that I am a huge Anne Rice fan :)
The Emmys were on last night but I had no idea which channels were showing them so I missed out *sob* Oh well, at least I got to catch them strutting about the red carpet and showing off their "bling bling" haha
take care people, later

S.O.S.
I tried to make a decent weblog with decent posts but nooo. My two posts show up as a zero on the Dashboard, and only half the comments I'm leaving in other people's blogs are showing up. I left this awesome reply on this one guy's post about King Arthur. It took me 30 goddamn minutes to type, and not it's not even showing up on his page.
I'm also new here. How am I supposed to go about making friends if I can't leave them any input on their blogs or vice versa? I'm not even sure if people can see what I've typed (after I've published it obviously). Ok people, here's my plea and umm please hear it haha ... HELP!!!!
Yes, I seriously suck at this html crap and have no idea what went wrong. In my defense though, I've followed the rules to a T so ... *shrugs*
Thanks in advance

Survivor
The 9th season of Survivor started today WOOT WOOT!!!! About damn time too. I was seriously going out of my mind with nothing to look forward to on Fridays. Blasphemy, what with me being a muslim and all? I know! Haha Anywhooo LBC's version of Survivor began last Friday and man oh man is it hilarious. There's even a Kuwaity girl competing called Ninar. Weird name but she seems nice, plus when they showed the intro/bio thingy of her hanging out with her friends back in Kuwait, I saw a couple of kids from U.A.S. including Waleed who is Fatima's younger yet way cooler brother. Fatima used to be the bestfriend of my ex-bestfriend's cousin (can you say mouthful). So anyways, that'll be fun. To anyone who is interested-
Survivor : Vanuatu is being shown on TvLand (showtime) every friday 08:00pm Kuwaity time which is ummm GMT + 3 If you missed it, you can always catch it on TvLand + 2 channel. There's also a rerun on Saturday 03:00pm which yet again can be caught on the TvLand +2 channel. Here's the website's addy http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor9/
Survivor : Kenya is being show on LBC every friday as well at around 9:30pm Kuwaity time. Here's their website's addy http://survivorlbc.com/
So now that I'm getting my (much needed) weekly dosage of reality tv, I just need to find a way to get my monthly anime/manga fix. The credit card that pops put aside for me to buy stuff of the net with, has expired and "No way in hell!", as he so eloquently put it, am I getting to use any of his other credit cards (heavyweights). He's still a little iffy about money transactions via the net and I've only been ordering crap of the net for what ... THREE WHOLE YEARS NOW!
Serves me right for waiting so long. Ever hear of that saying "Good things come to those who wait"? Well it's all a load of bull. Alot and I mean ALOT of anime dvds, mangas, and even books (good books not just decent ones) have been released from amazon during this summer. Silly old me thought it'd be better to get them after the summer. I didn't want anything keeping me indoors 'cuz I barely go out as is. When I do go out though, it's hard to get me back in. Mafeenee mil7 haha
Guess I'll just have to put all my effort (among other things) towards getting my own credit card. Actually that sounds pretty reasonable what with me being almost 20 and all. Haha we'll see.
My new fave game is Burnout 3: Takedown (Xbox) 'cuz it's sooooo awesome! I'm really good at signature takedowns. Been playing it all weekend and not once have I gotten bored. The only downside is, the joystick is really taking it's toll on my poor hands. It's that addictive! If you have an Xbox then go out and buy this game people. If you don't have an Xbox then go out and buy an Xbox just so can play this game haha
Can't find anything else to whine or rave about so I'm off to bed, nevermind that's it's almost 4:30am 'Night people ... or G'morning haha
